Pincode targeting

Pincode targeting differs from ad-platform geo-targeting in where it is enforced. Ad geo-targeting decides who sees a message. Pincode targeting decides what happens at checkout, which applies identically to organic, direct, email and referral traffic, and cannot be bypassed by sharing a link.

On Shopify, enforcement happens inside a Discount Function reading cart.deliveryGroups[0].deliveryAddress.zip. Gating on a cart attribute instead is not equivalent - cart attributes are shopper-writable.

The mechanic is most useful where delivery cost, delivery time, or order density vary meaningfully between postal codes. Where they do not, the segmentation carries no information.
